Default Vinyl stripes lifespan

Hey everyone, I have a question for those who got vinyl stripes on along with the pin stripes.

I ordered mine from BaltimoreStreetMods.com but I wanted to know how long do they last considering how many times you wash your car. I wash mine at least 2 times a week.

Also, is there anything I need to know when washing or drying the car to prevent accidentally peeling the stripes off?

thanks.

I just put mine on, but a friend with a '99 TA has had his stripes for over 6 years and they are fine. When I wash/polish mine I go length wise with the stripe and not against the edges. I am also very careful where there are any exposed corners to avoid them peeling up.

What color did you get? I had black and they lasted less than six months. By choice that is, not because of the material. Black shows a lot of imperfections; scratches, bugs, streaks.

Since I took some parts over to paint shop for the yellow car I asked them about clear coating over my vinyl stripes on the black car, so they may look good longer and not be damaged by washing, waxing, buffing or road rash and anything else. I may try this in the future as he showed me how he had just done this very thing on another clients car and it looked GREAT on that car!!

Most vinyl used for stripes is at least 6-7 years, even more if you take care of them.

I would never ever clearcoat over a vinyl sticker type stripe.
I highly advise you not to do that.
If you want shiny stripes, paint them on then clearcoat.

zkiller,

Do tell! Any reasons why this is such a bad idea? It sure looked good on the car I saw at the shop, BUT it was freshly done.

i had the stripes on my hood painted but the last car i had had vinyl stripes that lasted the 5 years i had the car. i didn't go to any lengths to care for them either. my semi annual wash was about all the car they got. and they looked great up to the day i traded it in.
