Default C350 or CS8?

Ok so I know I am going to catch a few flames for this one, but I'm prepared so here goes.......

As a disclaimer, I love my car and have no intention of getting rid of it any time soon. With that said, I know that as soon as you begin personalizing/customizing your car the potential trade-in/resale value begins to go down, more so than the depreciation the car is already suffering from. I would like to find a way around this if possible, with the worst case scenario being that after all the hard work I put into the car I come close to breaking even.

After doing a ****load of research, I would like to build either a Cervini's Eleanor C350 or a Shelby CS8 (see pics, and jbailer I used a pic of yours because I love the way it looks). I know that these are both high quality kits from well respected names. And I do realize both kits have their own unique sets of pros and cons. Assuming I do it tastefully and don't do anything ridiculous which do you think would have the highest resale value should I ever decide to part with my car?

I like the CS8 better as far as looks and originality go. But the only thing that will keep your Mustang from depreciating more is having few miles on it. If you can keep it under 12,000 miles a year you can add money to the blue book value. Take 2 Mustangs that are identical. I went to kbb.com and did a private party price check on a 2005 GT, good condition with just the standard options they showed. One that I said had the normal 38,000 miles gave a price of $20,270. The other, identically optioned 2005 GT that I said had only 19,000 miles got a price of $22,370! So that's a difference of $2,100! That's more than 10% more!
So the lesson is that if you are concerned about resale value DON'T drive it! If you do the mods yourself they might actually pay off!

since you want to stay tasteful and keep a good value to the car, go CS8.

The Cervini kit looks like Eleanor took a trip to Japan for a little rice. [:-]

If you have the CS8 kit installed by an authorized CS Mustang dealer/vendor, the value should rise above a standard GT IMO, it's kind of like when people take a Mustang to Saleen for a retrofit of Saleen bits to make it look like a true Saleen. When making a clone or what have you, who installedthe partsbecomes as important as the quality of parts used. Yes, the CS8 looks nicer than the Cervini, but the Cervini looks nice too. Hillbank Motorsport here in the L.A. area is an authorized CS distributor, give them a look(I believe it's hillbankmotorsports.com), maybe they can be of help with answering questions regarding the conversion.

Thanks guys for the input. Couple more questions: Aren't there some kinds of registries you can get on with either car, or certificates of authenticity, dash plates, etc. that you are issued that would add to the value?

Also, it seems like the majority of people so far prefer the CS8. Is there a reason for this (i.e. is there something wrong with the cervini's I'm not aware of), or is this based just on cosmetics?

A lot of people have the Cervini's kit that's all. I can't answer the question about the plate or certificate.
