The shop that cut mine said the plastic was very easy to cut. Just sand it down some after you are done and if you want, add a little touch up paint around the edge.
It's very hard to tell if it was factory made or not.

I toasted my dremel on a previous project, so I just palmed a hacksaw blade and cut inside the lines. A utility knife cleaned up the high spots, and 100 grit paper wrapped around a full soda can finished it off. Turned out great IMO.

I dont have the ***** to try that. I'm gonna pay a pro to cut mine.
