Default painting side mirrors?

I have an 06 GT Vert. Torch Red w/black top. The black side mirrors are bugging me. I want them to match the car. I took it by the dealership body shop yesterday and they said they do not recommend painting over that texture. They said it's not impossible but that the paint will come off in no time. He said I should be able to find aftermarket mirrors somewhere. Any suggestions? Hell, if it's possible, I'm about to paint the things myself.

Take care,
Will

I agree with them. You don't want to paint over that texture. What you need to do is hand sand them until they are smooth. Then have them painted. While you are at it do the same to the window trim. Makes the car look so much cleaner.

I am going to paint mine tonight. I sanded them with 320 grit and then wet sanded them with 400grit. I got a spray can of plastic adhesion promotor and paint from a paint store so I can paint the mirrors and a hood scoop. I removed the mirrors from the car, which is a snap, and then removed the glass from the housing. Now they are sanded and ready for prep and paint.

I would def work them down more than 400grit. Go to about an 8-1200.

Just get the ones from blueovalindustries.com. they look the same, come ready to paint and they have a turn signal build in. I like them and will get them somwhere down the line. You can get them with the same grainy finish with either clear or smoked lenses and also in a paintable finish with the smoke or clear lens. they are $199.00 with $12.21 shipping to Corpus Christi, Texas. this is the site http://www.blueovalindustries.com/pr...p?pid=99013190
