New antenna! pics!
Well i went to a few auto parts store like napa, autozone, orielly today in search of a new shorter antenna. I remembered the post i read yesterday about doing your own and i did. Easy job, looks like its factory, perfect reception still no buzzing or anything! Heres a how to!
1. Secure a pair of small channel locks in the vise(i know there are other ways to get the ball off but this proved easiest) and put the antenna in it with the ball end on the opposite side that your on.
2. Grasp the antenna and pull it until the ball pops off(be sure to wrap the ball in a towel or something so it wont fly across the garage and lose it)
3. When the ball is off, secure the antenna in the vise and mark were your going to cut, start cutting!
4. When its cut, you have 2 options on how to put the ball back, gut it out a little till it will fit or use a metal grinder and shape down the end till the stock hole fits.(I used the grinder)
5. Test fit the ball then find some kind of super glue to secure it, i used j.b weld glue, it works perfect. Wait to dry and make sure its secure.
6. Then you can paint! One coat was good cause you dont scratch to much and then spray on a coat of clear coat and it looks like nothing ever happened!
7. Put back on car and realize you just saved 10 bucks!

RE: New antenna! pics!
Sammy boy, I put on the new antenna mod, but went with the real shorty - 6 inches. Reception is perfectly fine just about anywhere except out in the middle of the state (Florida that is) where there ain't much of anythin'. Take care dude, Jack.
