Shorty antenna install question...
Iswapped the stock antenna on my new V6 for a 14-inch shorty from American Muscle. Looks great, and the installinvolved simply screwing out old antenna and screwing in new one.
Here's the question: Should IuseLoctite or some other adhesiveto secure the antenna? I'm not worried about it getting stolen or anything (even with Loctite, they could still take it, and it only cost $20). However, I'm wondering if the vibration from the car while driving will loosen the connection over time. I screwed it in as tightly as possible, but I'm still not sure if it will loosen or not.
I know many here have installed the exact antenna. Is Loctite necessary, or not needed. Thanks...

RE: Shorty antenna install question...
I've had mine (same exact as the one you ordered) in for about 8 months now and I didn't use loctite. I just padded it at the base and tightened it as much as I could. No loosening problems and the reception is just as good as with the stockbuggy whip antenna. Either way, it should be fine.

RE: Shorty antenna install question...
My 14' antenna from American Muscle has been on for probably around a year now and still no problems. Tightened it with a wrench, no loctite or anything, and it's been 100% so far. Loctite's definitely not necessary for this one.

I take my antenna off my car every time I put my car cover on. When I go for a drive, I hand tighten the antenna. I've been doing this for a year now with no problems.

I dont see a reason for you to use locktite, if your worried just check it every once and a while and tighten it when it needs it

RE: Shorty antenna install question...
I've installed 8" shorty antennas on 3 different Mustangs years ago including a friend's Cali Special. Used nothing special, just unscrewed the original and screwed the new one. All are still as tight as ever If you are at all worried, just use a little of that white rubbery/stretchy tape plumbers use over fittings. Sorry I can't remember what that stuff is called, but it would help with any vibration although I have never had any problems with that personally.
