front windshield tinted?

RE: front window tinted?
i did mine and i live in california and the cops havent messed with me yet. i went 20% all the way around, sounds like it would be too light, but with the windshield done too, it is really dark. sometimes at night i have to roll my windows down to see some things. ndgoalie has a good point about rock chips though, i guess that just a risk you would have to consider.

RE: front window tinted?
Sorry, but tinting the windshield is absolutely retarded. Being able to see clearly at night is sort of important, if not for you, then for the poor shmuck that you might end up running down on some dark street. It's illegal for an excellent reason.

ok well heres a good reason not too...if for some reason you get into a accident...your automatically at fault because they will say due to you window tinting you were not able to see clearly meaning you could not make the right judgement...DO NOT TINT YOUR FRONT WINDSHEILD

Well, I am not sure why you would want to do this, but there are a couple of posters here who have had it done, do a search for tint posts in the S197 section and you can find'em...with pics. Just stay out of IL so you don't get pulled over by 971 S197, and be careful at night. My buddy tinted up his front on his C6 at 15% with 35% around the rest and it turned into a b***h to drive at night. Uglier than all hell too IMO.

RE: front window tinted?
Not sure what kind of tint other people are using but there is no visability issues with mine. It's not the cheap stereo shop tint where you have to roll the windows down to see out. Driving through a dark shop with no lights I have no problem seeing. The main reason for mine is simply the UV protection. Having had bad skin cancer I'll take my chances with the law for the very front. But one main reason they don't want the front tinted is so they can see in the car. Plus you can't live in fear of rock chips. Then why get a new hood or lip and spend money to paint it, one chip and it's done for also.
