Default Faux Dual Exhaust / Split Exhaust

I was thinking about a faux dual exhaust kit for my '08 when I came across this: http://spoilers4less.com/plt-pmz-009.html

At 20 bucks, it looks like a cheap and easy way to give my '08a split exhaust, which is a look I like. Has anyone tried this? In fact, has anyone tried any clamp on exhaust tip? Do they damage the existing pipe and are they reliable? By reliable, I mean if properly installed, do they fall off? I'd appeciate any input.

Thanks.

You would have to notch your bumper for that tip, and chances are it'll stick too far out behind the car. For a little more than $20, you can find a GT take-off muffler on Ebay with the larger tip, better sound, and a few extra HP.

Thanks for the reply. No doubt you're right about the GT take-off muffler, but that's more than I want to do right now. I hadn't considered how far out that split tip would stick. Good point. Maybe I'll go with one of the more common chrome tips for now. Any thoughts? http://www.jcwhitney.com/PILOT-BOLT-...1736_10101.jcw

The cut out on our V6 will fit any 4" pipe as long as it is 4" or less you will be ok but I have to say I would just live with the stock look and do as 28HopUp has said if you go to the for sale or Want to buy section of this site you may even get a much better price then you think. Some people will give it to you for just shipping so even if it were 20.00 to ship it to you, You would get more for your money the one of these things. You are new but most everyone here has that crappie V6 stock muffler setting in the corner of there garage/shed that was the first thing I did to my car. Save your $ and do it right Newbie (said with respect for you) This is also one of the easiest mods to do you can do this very easy.

I'm not even gonna be polite about it.

I saw an idiot in traffic the other day with one of those on his S197 and it looked 100% retarded.

To deal with the cutout issue, he had the tip sitting back quite far (so the single portion of the tip was through the cutout and it split into two behind the bumper.)

It looked really bad and I made sure to glare at him in contempt. Okay I didn't do that because I felt kind of embarassed for him, but it did look really really bad.

If you don't want to fork over the cash for duals (which can be done fairly inexpensively) and want to spruce up the look a little just get a GT take-off single for cheap and buy a nice chrome tip for it.

A nice single tip would look considerably better than that split tip you're looking at. And the split tip isn't going to trick anyone into thinking your Mustang has duals anyway.

Don't waste your money on faux looking tips. If you want duals, then save your money and purchase an X or H pipe set up, you'll be happy you did in the long run.
