Default 1/4 Window Louver Pic Request (Something Different)

We are thinking about putting matte black louvers on my GF's 05 Satin Silver Saleen to complement the other matte black accents on the car (grille, side decals, rear panel). We're going with these probably http://www.wheelskin.com/dg-3180.html

Anyone have a picture of matte or even gloss black louvers on a light colored car or any non-black car? In my mind it looks really good, along with "Saleen" fill-ins in the rear bumper to finish it off, but I'd like to see if anyone else has done this to give me some idea.

Thanks.

You might want to check out the street scenes gen 4 louver.

they look about the same as what your link has from what i've seen but they are removable for cleaning the same as the roush, they are black carbon fiber look and they can be had on sale now for only $99 at v6 mustang stuff.

If you are leaving them black for the carbon fiber look then you save $80 over the painted ones you were lookin at and these are removable for cleaning. I don't know how long they're on sale for or how much shipping is - if they charge a lot for shipping the savings would be less obviously.

I am considering a pair of these myself or else the roush cause I think the removal for cleaning is a desirable feature. if you don't care about cleaning issues and want painted then I don't think you can beat the hubcaps plus ones for price.

Personally, I think black and/or carbon fiber look would be good on yellow, white, red, black but not so good on other colors like blue. Depends on if you have other black contrasty looking stuff on the car too I guess. Just my 2 cents...
Which ever you get post how you think the quality is...

No problem, glad I could help. I think those flush SHR louvers in black like the yellow mustang would be pretty cool on a saleen. The street scene's louvers sound like a good deal but they're too round for my taste. Be sure to post pics of whatever you two end up deciding, i think we'd all be really interested to see.

Thanks for the tip, but how long ago did you see this? I cannot find any gen 4 louvers. On v6mustangstuff, all I see are the astra louvers for $149. I can't find gen 4 louvers anywhere, actually.

Her car is Satin silver btw.

EDIT: nvm, found them at the street scene site. They look good, but the wheelskin's/hubcaps plus just look too good to use anything else at this point. We probably can't afford it for a few months, but I'll definitely post results when I do it.

Checked just now and its still up. Street Scenes Gen 4 - abs $89 carbon fiber (look?) $99 - says on sale while supplies last but they emailed me back 2 days ago that they had them ready to ship. Reg prices are $139 and $149 I think. They are low down on the page so scroll down...

This is link: www.v6mustangstuff.com/More_Info.htm

BTW - I am not recommending - just mentioning what I saw.

I looked at install for SHR ones and though they look great they require a lot of work ripping your interior apart (step plates, back seat, rear quarter panels, seat belt bolts), using wire to saw your windows out, sealing properly so they don't leak, and not messin up your ext paint in the process. I could not afford to have my rear quarters painted if I screwed up and something happened.

For me its between the CDCs and the Roush.

My concern is this: what if you don't want em on anymore - will the tape come off without messin up the paint? Anyone know the answer to this?

Oh, guess I didn't look in the sale section. I don't like the little bolts and the way they seal the window completely. The ones we're getting you can still see out of a little bit when parking and whatnot.

I work at a body shop and no it does not mess up your paint, we remove moldings attached with 3m tape from the factory daily, we use a big spinning eraser to carefully take the remaining tape off. You can also use a heat gun/blow dryer and your hands, it just takes longer. And I think the tape only contacts the glass.

sorry, I really need to get new photos of my louvers so Wheelskin can show these off. All I have is low quality pics. Seems every time I clean my car something comes up and I forget! I removed those yellow louvers (yes, that's my GT on their website) and they just pulled right off. It took a good amount of force, but they were never loose while on the car, so don't worry about them detaching if properly installed.

I cleaned up the area and put on the new Black ones they sent me. The quality was very good, and the unpainted side was clean too.

The view out is much better than with the Roush or even the SHR ones:
... though obviously not as good as a clear window! Don't worry about how to clean the window, as it will be covered and won't get that dirty anyway. You just spray water in there, and if you have a thin sponge it can fit into most of the openings, and a folded chamois dries it off good. No real lingering water drips either.
