Default louver rattle

Anyone else have problems with their rear louvers rattling on rough roads. How did you fix it?

Am I the only one with this problem or is there not a solution?

ME.

My Astra-Hammond aluminum's rattled at speeds typically over 70 MPH depending on wind speed and direction. I removed them and added some weatherstriping on the 90 degree angles that connect the slats and on some of the metal-to-metal locations. I suspect my ticking was metal to glass. I also added some weather stripping where it appeared the factory stripping was still allowing metal to glas contact.

That resolved the ticking after a few attempts but now I have a "howling" at above 100 MPH. I removed the louvers and the howling is gone so I assume I somehow changed the air flow around or under the slats. I'm still working on this issue.

If I remember when I get home later this weekend, I'll take some pics since I have the louvers off for the howling issue.

I've had my MRT/Visus louvers on for 2yrs now & have 0 rattles.
Not sure if you have the Astro-Hammond or MRT ones.

Have heard of some people who had the welds crack where the slats connect to the vertical braces & JB welded to fix, then touched up to match the black. This is on the MRT ones.

Nuke, I used to have the ticking and did the weather stip mod as well. This is more of a rattle. I get it on rough roads or when my subs hit. The best way I can duplicate it without driving is the go out and thump the louvers towards the middle of them or turn the radio up really loud.

BTW they are Astro-Hammond aluminum.

Be positive it's the louvers. Run a stretch of road where you get the rattle. Then remove them and put them in the trunk (back seats down) and re-run that stretch of road. No sense chasing the louvers if it's something else. If it IS the louvers, then it's a matter of your best guess and process of elimination. I'll be damned if I'M giving up on my howling problem. The louver looks too good plus keep my dog cooler in the summer.

Sounds like renosance of the slats themselves due to vibration and them not being rigid enough. That you will not get rid of.
