I guess legally they have the right to refuse to install. Just find a perf shop to do it.

You might want to call them and ask why or why not they meet DOT. They may have not been tested for it. I do know Ford has recently brought them in as an official accessory part supplier for that part and Moos who is very touchy about whose products they sell put them in their catalog.

Here is the Ford racing video with their Cobra Jet car wearing the louvers:

if you get them and dont want to install sell em to me! these are the best louvers out and I HIGHLY doubt that a piggy would pick up on the fact that they are not DOT approved or whatever.

For example DOT glass must have certain characteristics when it break, no large shards, layer of film or plastic in the middle to keep it together even when it shatters etc.. Shope have the right to refuse installing anything that takes away from federaly regulated safety or emissions laws. If they do install the plastic or glass component and you get injured because something highly unlikely but still possible happens, you can sue them and the shop can lose their business license.

Insurance companies look at those details (DOT approved parts) in cases of accidents that involve the item in question. Again, highly unlikely you'll have any problems but there's always a possiblity.

In a nutshell the shop is covering their ****. If you get into an accident and are potentially injured from installed said louvers, you and or the insurance company could go after the shop for negligence.
They can withstand the weight of a parked car on them, I'm pretty sure they won't explode on impact, the stock glass on the other hand I'm not so sure.

When I got mine I had trouble finding an installer because it was new to them and they didn't want to be bothered. Finally found a body shop that also did some custom work and they agreed to do them.
