Arrow Removing side stripes

I have got a 08 V6 with the gold mustang side stripe near the rocker panels. The car build date was 03/08. I am wanting to remove this decal but am wondering if the paint will be faded. Also related, has anyone removed the door guard strips and was the paint faded or left a ghosting effect? Thanks for any help on these two questions.

It's hard to tell but being that the build was 3/08 I don't think the paint would be faded to the degree that it would be drastic.

I took the side-stripes off my 2006 V6 yesterday (Build was like 03/06 I think) and after all that time they came off with absolutely no fade at all.

And I've been kind of neglectful of the paint. I wash it a lot, but I don't wax it often, it sits outside in the sun and whatever else 365 days/year, etc, and the stripes came off great. The only thing the car has going for it is that it's white (which is usually a forgiving color for that kind of stuff) but I definitely expected some fade and there was none.

It looked like fade at first when I took the stripes off, but it turned out it was just some dirt residue along the bottom which wouldn't come off with regular washing, so I took a rag and some Bug n Tar remover and everything came out clean. Can't even tell the stripes were ever there (and that's after 3 years of them being on.)

So, all in all, I wouldn't worry about fade too much. If there is some, it can probably be polished nice and shiny by you or a detailer for minimal cost.

You have a clear coat on the car and unless the car is tanning on the sides only you should never have ghosting or fade on the sides of the car regardless of color......JMO but the clear fades/oxidizes and the color underneath is still intact...you might have to polish and wax the area after but thats it!

How did you remove yours? I made the mistake of taking my 08 V6, dark candy apple red color mustang, through the car wash. I currently have black side rocker stripes, and the car wash tore a quarter size chunk out of one side. This really pissed me off, and I now need to have them removed to replace this little imperfection.

I'm not so concerned with fade as I'll be replacing the black rocker side stripes with white strips and white hood stripes, but if I can do it myself and save some money, that would be great.

I've been reading around and while many answers have been useful I'd like to get a direct answer if someone would oblige. I recently purchased my first Mustang; it's a 2002 V6...I know, I know, it's not a GT, but please don't hold it against me. Anyway, I love the car so far and am slowly working it to the way I want it to look/perform and the one thing I despise right now is the rocker stripes. I love the tropic green paint I have but the gold rocker stripes just don't look right. As I stated before it's a 2002 and I would love to remove them, but scared that there may be a "shadow" effect or noticeable difference in the paint color. Like I said earlier, I have read that since the clear coat is present there should be no difference, but due to the fact that the vehicle is a 2002 is it possible there may be a noticeable difference in the paint that lies underneath these stripes? Thanks in advance for anyone who may be able to shed a more knowledgeable light on this subject for me.

Should be fine..... as long as the car has clear go ahead and remove them and polish and wax the car and enjoy the look afterward. I would not hesitate to remove them....JMO
