GT500 Spoiler

GT500 Spoiler
I'm considering purchasing a painted GT500 from the spoiler store. Those of you that bought one does it;
* cover up the holes left from a PP spoiler?
* Does it bolt on, uses 3M tape or both?
How hard was the installation? Was it a pain getting the PP spoiler off?
I appreciate your insights.

I did. Pretty fair quality, and paint matched colorwise,
just hit it with 12-15 and 2000 grit paper to color sand
it. Holes align with the existing o/e spoiler location. I
let it sit in the sun, soaked pedestals with goo-gone
and firmly lifted up while separating the joints with
a plastic trim tool. Be careful pulling up too hard, it
will want to dent. Fishing line has been also used by
many. Finished inside bolt/holes with clear silly cone
to seal moisture, good to go. Has 3M tape on the back
edge also. It used bolts and tape to answer your second
question.
Look for the $89 price painted.

The existing OEM spoiler uses 4 mounting holes, whereas the GT500 spoiler from the SpoilerStore uses only 2 of those existing holes. Most just fill the other two holes with a bonding material. The GT500 spoiler also comes with strips of 3M tape on it.

Be sure that the ambient/surface temps are well above 80 degrees.
Use 3M 4298 adhesion promoter as well.
Its a good idea to also weight down the spoiler so the 3M tape makes
full contact with the trunk lid during the curing process (24 hrs).
Sand bags and a big blanket will hold it down.
Or yours might pop up in the middle like VictoriaRRs did.

That stuff is highly overrated especially if the part you are installing is also bolted down. Besides it has a warning on it that it can discolor paint so if you ever think you might remove the spoiler you might have a surprise on the trunk. Just clean the area well before hand and you won't have any issues. Hell I drove mine through a car wash 4 hours after I put the spoiler on and that was almost a year ago.

When I first bought my Mustang I didn't like the PP spoiler so I bought a used GT spoiler. Only problem is, it's painted Satin Silver and my car is Vista Blue. I hated to spend more $ to get it painted. So I thought about selling this one and purchasing a GT500.....BUT if I can get a good deal on a paint job, I may just use the GT one.
The thought of 3M tape running across my trunk doesn't really appeal to me. Not only that but to have to go through the trouble of sealing up the holes left by the PP spoiler.
The GT spoiler should use the same holes....right?

It will use 2 of the same holes but there are going to be two that stay open. Some have used silicon, others body panel plugs and others just left them open. I subscribe to the later. The GT500 spoiler from the spoilerstore is taped on all 4 sides and the gap on the corners is maybe 1/4". There is no way any real water is gettering in there so I just left it open. A year later and driving it through the winter I've never seen a drop of water in my trunk, take that for what you will.
