Exhaust Tips

Exhaust Tips
After I bought my car, I was underneath the back installing the rear plate when I discovered the previous owner had installed Flowmaster mufflers. They sound great but the dull stainless tips are not much to look at. I was wondering if it is possible to mount something a little nicer (SHINEY CHROME......) and perhaps larger in diameter (to fill the openings better). Since there is only a few inches of exhaust tip coming directly out of the muffler, how do you get the nice larger tips mounted without seeing an obvious increasE in diameter (looking like a small "o" inside a big "O", I can't stand it when you see a truck or ricer with a normal size exhaust that suddenly goes to a 6" diameter tip), when you view the car from directly behind it. I also do not want any visible screws hanging down like you see in those Autozone bolt-on tips. Also, what is the largest diameter you can put back there without worrying about melting the rear bumper........TIA

You can buy tips that have a steep inside angle.
IE
Personally, I think 4" tips fit the openings nicely and will not give you any clearance problems (the GTA mufflers from Ford Racing use 4" tips)
Lastly, do not use the cheap screw-on tips from autozone. Spend the extra $20 and have a muffler/exhaust shop weld a set on.

Thanks for the replies guys, believe me, I would never put a screw-on exhaust tips on my car. I was just wondering what size would fit without distortion because of the heat, and if I should try to pre-purchase a specific (recommended) set and show up at a shop, or if I should rely on what a shop has and expect to get a nice **** stretching for their "marked-up" tips.
