Shaker Hood Question - Any body paint theres?
#21
At least if you can see one that's painted gloss, you'll know for sure if you like it or not.
I've seen them a couple times in car shows and it didn't look good IMO.
Now, if you have a smooth finish instead of the textured look, it will look fine.
Boozshey, the CDC and old shaker scoops from the 60s are texturized pot metal from the mold.
It's not wrinkled paint...

pascal, did you happen to see the pic of the grabber orange shaker that I post earlier in this the thread. That was the one that got me thinking about doing this.

Has anyone contacted CDC and asked for advice with painting the scoop? I intend to repaint mine black like it was originally when it fades enough and I was going to email their tech and ask. I was also going to ask waht to use to clean it with besides car wash soap.
To paint or not to match the car is a personal choice so there is no wrong answer as far as astetics are concerned. I didn't really care for that grabber orange on though, but to each his/her own.
Good luck to you whatever you decide to do.

Yeah, and it's fine.
But they worked this thing before painting it.
They got rid of the texture by sanding it down until smooth.
That particular scoop would look good on a blacked out hood like a 69/70, or even with SSnake stripes.

"This are all powder coated from the factory. I have not had any experience with painting them."
