I wasn't even thinking about that. However, the Mustang Shaker 500 and 1000 both have external amps, I believe. So, there should be a remote turn-on wire from the deck to the amp. You'll have to figure out which one it is and tap into that one for the antenna turn-on lead.

If you're going to run a switch, run it off a switched accessory wire. This way, it will always retract when the car is off, even if the switch is on.

Wouldnt it just stay in place if you turn the car off with it in the up position? If its not getting power when the car is off how will it retract

you need to find out how to wire it into the am/fm button. That way it will stay down with the clock on or the aux input but will raise if you turn on the actual radio

The antenna has 3 wires... power, ground and turn-on. The power wire goes to a constant power source. The wire I've been talking about is the turn-on lead.

so can the "turn on" wire be hooked up to the constant wire but use a SPST switch to turn it off an on?

It can, but the problem with that is that the antenna will stay up when you shut the car off if you don't manually lower it. Honestly, you're unfamiliar with automotive electronics, I recommend just having a stereo shop install it for you.

When I went through the process of checking availability for my 07 vert., it said the Metra PW22 would not fit my car. I just mention this so that you are forewarned.
