Just a basic clear coat with a little of black paint mixed into it for the shade effect,

75$ in paint material (1qt clear, 1qt black, 1pt activator)
If just doing your own, all you need is a PT of each.
Any local custom shop or paint shop can do this for you, prices vary for this job as we have shops around here that charge up to 250$ for the same thing.

i just found a local shop that will paint my lights for $100, so id say thats a pretty good price compared to your $75. Has anyone had any trouble with their tinted lights and cops?

For 100$ id pay that.. just dont go to dark and you will be fine.. Mine were pretty dark so i had to wet sand them down some to lighten them up. Other then that for livin in sarasota, fl i have yet to have a issue nor anyone else i know.

I did covers for the tails in case the cops hassle me. I did VHT on the rest of the lights. I use several coats of VHT and then sand through a few coats smoothing out the finish with wet 1500 grit. I then used several coats of clear, followed by wet 1500 and 2000 grit. Then, I buff them. Materials are pretty cheap (about $50 for enough to do 2 cars), but to do it right took an entire weekend to allow proper drying time.

Pics:

Turn signals are VHT, the headlights and driving lights are covers:

Side markers and 3rd brake are VHT:

Well I have a white GT as well and have been looking to do this. Now that I see your ride, I am sold. Those turned out awesome. Takes a whole weekend but to me, completely worth it! Nice job.

From my experience, doing both the VHT and paint, I decided to just spend the extra money and buy the aftermarket pieces from different vendors. I wasn't personally satisfied with the outcomes.

I bought my headlights, turn signals, 3rd brake light, and tail lights from American Muscle. All of them are smoked. My rear side markers are from Stangmods..........those are smoked as well.

I haven't touched the fog lights..........I am eventually going to do a fog delete.

Here are pictures....

I also opted to just buy the tinted tails from americanmuscle.com It's nice knowing that if you do run into problems with law that you still have your originals as back up. Tinting and painting option doesn't leave you with any spares. Well worth the money. Also I thought the amount of smoke/tint was just right. Not too light and not too dark. In the daylight you can still see quite a bit of red. Doubt I'll get pulled over. I think some cars come factory with just as dark of tails.
