+1 on the lack of wheel AND tire choices in 19". But most people going for that "rubber-band-on-a-wagon-wheel" and "in-the-hood" look (NOW who's going to get flamed???) go for 20" and I've even seen someone here with 22" wheels.

My taste is opposite yours. I have 18" OE takeoff wheels (after dumping my stock 18" wheels) and am sorry I didn't go with 16" and some sexy sidewall. Even the stock 55 series tires suck as far as sidewall height is concerned IMO. Give me sidewalls with RWL's! Yeah, baby!

As far as performance goes. The smallest wheel with the smallest tire you can get away with and still get traction will give you the best acceleration.

+1 on not cheaping out and getting narrow wheels. I run 19x9 front and 19x10 rears.
Take a look at Kumho Ecsta SPT tires. I cant say enough good things about them. They are, however, a summer tire and will most certainly let you slide around when its cold out.

I have a few pics in that thead. Keep in mind those pics were taken right after I lowered the car and everything is really grubby. When clean they shine like mirrors.

Shelby Torque Thrust 20" Offset: 48mm

Backspacing: 7.36"
Bolt Pattern: 5-114
Rec. Tire Size:275/35-20
Weight: 32.6lbs.

this is the same wheel 18"
Offset: 34mm

Backspacing: 6.41"
Bolt Pattern: 5-114
Rec. Tire Size:255/45-18
Weight: 26.0lbs.

They don't make that wheel in 19 so if you want to fill up the wheel well, 20's or 18's and if 18 what tire to make up the height of a the current 19's 245/45/19??

Anything over 20 pounds is pretty much a boat anchor.

Next summer I might get some Enkei racing wheels, 18x9.5 that weigh around 18.6 pounds each.

been thinking about this all day although i have 20,000 miles left on these new 19's came with car, i'm considering 18's if went sames size all 4, cuz i like to rotate my stuff, what would be a good size tire to fill up same area 19's take up, don't want to pay 400 a wheel just cuz weigh 18 pounds, would you get better performance from a 18 than a 20, would it look just as big?
