Default Shaker hood, worth it?

My friend at a junk yard asked me if I wanted a shaker hood kit from his yard. The owner was pretty devastated I guess so he left all the mods on the car after it was wrecked. My buddy was selling it and wants $200 for it. Looks pretty clean. I live in AK with some bad winters. Does the slot suck in air? Should I worry about snow or ice getting sucked in there?

Its a deal, but I'd have to get a stock hood because my GT/CS hood does not work with it..

I like the look of it but in all honesty, not sure about it's benefits.. does it shake a WOT, are there power gains?

No power gains, and I think they are made to only allow air inside. They are generally more for looks but are functional, though they dont do much. I have seen some videos of them shaking back and forth which is kinda cool. I definitely like how they look and at that price go for it!

Thats a great price stock hoods are cheap should even be able to find your color there is a black one on ebay with the shaker hole but some iditot drilled a hole in the front for a hood ornament or something. Make sure you get the trim rings off the shaker car might have to drill out the rivets to get it off. As for water it has drain tubes to take care of that. if you dont want it see if your friend will ship it i'd be interested lol

For $200? Hell yeah! I'd jump on that like, yesterday!
You could always sell it for $400 if you don't want to use it.

Does it sit on top on the stock intake manifold or is it a direct replacement? IE; remove the stock manifold, install the shaker hood directly in place of the intake manifold, cold air gets sucked into the intake ports? Or am I overlooking it's function?

sits on top of the stock manifold and has a hose that dumps air into the intake.
