Default help getting glue off....

ok, i'm not so luckie, i'm started removing the lemans stripes from my GT. these are after market, installed by the dealer, the stripes come off, but i'v got ALL the GLUE remaining on the car.

WHAT IS THE BEST GLUE REMOVER, WITH OUT KILLING MY PAINT ?
AND I DID ALL THE TRICKS, IN THE SUN, USED THE DRYER, ETC, ETC, BUT I'VE STILL GOT ALL THE GLUE.

i don't want to buy 20 products and none of them work.
this is a heavy duty job, and now that i've started, i've got to finish it.

Try some WD40. Usually works well on glue removal.

WD-40 works wonders to remove adhesive. Might try a little in an inconspicuous spot just as a test. You have to let it soak for a bit to penetrate the adhesive and then work it with a little elbow grease, but eventually it'll ball up into a "snot" like substance and you'll be able to wipe it right off.

I've used this before with great success. You WILL have to wash the car and wax it because it strips EVERYTHING (including any wax), but it never damaged the paint in my experience.**

**This is just my suggestion and as with any advice you get over the internet, you are assuming all liability and are using it at your own risk.

I'm pretty sure gas will damage the finish.

I'd go along with trying WD-40. If that doesn't work, then you could try 3M Adhesive Cleaner. If that doesn't work, I think it's off to a detail shop.

DO NOT EVER USE WD40 OR FUEL!!!!!!! go to a detailer shop and pick up some 3M adhesive remover its like $10 and it will last a long time. I love this stuff and it is the best on the market guaranteed! keep in mind that every time you use any product like this stay on top of waxing your car. -Ghost

I would use WD40 before I would EVER use gas, but like Ghost-Unit suggested, go to the dealer and get some 3M adhesive remover. Heck, I even saw it at Wal-Mart one time in the automotive section.
After you get all that gunk off, make sure you wash it good and put some wax back on.

Keep us posted on your project.

I would say if you can't find the adhesive remover, try some hand cleaner cream. That cream is safe for using on clothes and other stuff without harm, so it should not harm your paint.
