Default I committed a cardinal sin!!

I ran my ride through an automatic car wash!

And that sucka put three chips in my trunk top and spoiler. One is about
an 1/8" in diameter (a little smaller than the top of a pencil eraser).

Any special prep or technique in fixing the larger chip? I'm worried about the
edges of the chip spreading out.

I've touched up little pinhole's before, but never anything this big.

When I was done gave her new shoes to appologize....I think she'll eventually forgive me.

Gotta use touchless, not the kind with brushes.

As far as touching it up, I don't know. Touchup paint maybe? I've used that on small dings from rocks.

Ouch. It would not hurt to get an estimate from a shop.

Depending on how "**** rententive" you are, you can either just touch them up yourself or, go all out and get it done at a shop.

I've got some touch up paint... I can dab it on there...but I don't want it to spread, so I don't know if just the touch up paint will be enough.

And yes. I am a dumbass. I was in a hurry because I had about 1" of road salt stuck to the car. Never do that again.

suppose you need to make sure all the road salt is out of those chips.. I've never prepped myself. Just cleaned it and dabbed paint but it was always just pinhole sized.

She makes a good point. I would get something over the paint chips asap as the salt will wreak havoc on your car. We have the same thing here in West Virginia.

As to how....I have never done it either. Lol, I just recently learned how to change my oil.

How deep are the scratches? if they are kinda deep, i just read an article that says to clean, paint it, and then use a little 1500 grit wet sand paper and then buff it. Now a disclaimer is that i haven't tried this and its just what i read. But it is an idea none the less

dont try this unless you have excess to a real buffer and not a cheap one. You will leave all kinds of scratches in your clear coat that a cheap buffer wont get out.
