Window Tint Experience

Window Tint Experience
So, I've been wanting to get my windows tinted and have been calling around for pricing. Two places I've found in my area both offer Llumar films. One is priced at $150 and the other $209. I ask the guy who priced $209 if he would include installing moleskin for that price. He says no, and I tell him there is another guy $60 cheaper. His response was, "that's fine." Granted, there may be a difference in the Llumar films they are using, but I doubt it. I would have thought he would have been more willing to negotiate.

That 150 is pretty cheap. I've never been charged less than 200. There may be a reason the other place is so much cheaper...No business=lower prices=probably not very good install. But being in a different state, prices are obviously different...
As far as the moleskin, you can do that yourself easily. Just peel and stick.

i live in CT also and got my old car tinted for 150. Granted that was like 8 years ago... lol. Either way though, I would pay more then like 175 unless it was gonna have a reliable lifetime garuntee on product and install.

It was $200 for the rear windows for the 3M solarguard stuff at a local place that does a good job. I think it was another 100 for the front windows but not sure. Didn't tint the driver/passenger door to keep it legit.

Llumar is $180 installed, no moleskins (they knew nothing about it
and didnt want to know anything about it).
They just warranty the Llumar against scratching and
replace any that gets scratched for free (it takes them 10 mins
to tint a door window). I get new free door window films bout every spring.
A windshield eyebrow down to the AS1 line if another $50 (its tough).
I would go the highest priced guy as you get what you pay for with tint.

On a 2007 model, if you don't replace the interior rub strip with the 2008 part number from Ford, you will have scratched tint. The 2008 parts have the nice soft felt surface which makes contact with the inside surface of the window.
You could also do moleskin, but I believe going with the new Ford parts makes more sense. they are not that expensive.

I got them tinted yesterday! 15% all the way around. I thought they would be darker. Anyone else here have 15% and think they are not that dark? When I look through the rear window I can see the front dash. Anyway, they look good. Now, for the moleskin installation and hopefully no tickets!

My tint guy did mine for $160. It is Llumar, has a life warranty and he did the back at like 3% and the fronts at 30%. I installed my own moleskin and have had no complaints about my tint. He even smoothed around the dot matrix to hide the line better than most I have seen and he replaced the side window tint for me after I had to peel it off a while back for $20

the only way you wont be able to see through it is 5%. I have 20 and absolutely love it. Not stupid dark..but perfect. As for tickets and inspection..I have a prescription card thank god. also..make sure you have a lifetime warranty on the tint.
