Obviously depends on a bunch of factors, i.e. location, quality of work, etc.

Expect to spend $3k or so for a quality job.

The lowest quote I have found was at a local body shop that does good work and it was 2.3K..minus the paint I want to use.

Whatever you do.....stay away from Maaco!
I would contact a local Mustang Club and find out who they would recommend. Most of those guys have show cars so they may know a good shop. Expect to pay at least $3K for a good paint job. I paid that much 20 years ago for a Mustang to be repainted by a local guy who painted show cars.

Are you keeping it the same color?

For a show car $3K won't cut it.
The wet sanding and buffing alone will take about a Grand.

A regular quality paint job would be at least $3000 and that includes taking everything off the car except for the doors, fenders and glass.

Sorry to jack the thread... but what if someone wanted to change colors ? I wish I could change from black to white. I wanted white from the start but "have it now" made me choose the black..

pascal the $3K I paid was 20 years ago....so yeah, because of inflation you will pay more. The guy was my aunt's friend so he cut us a deal. I wished I knew where he moved to....he took pride in his workmanship.

It can be done although they would probably charge you more. I had a 1980 silver Dodge Champ that I had painted a cool teal green. The guy was the same one I used to paint my Mustang. He painted all the joints, door jams, under the hood, tire wells, hatch back and even inside the hatch back area. I must say, it did look good! When he was done, you couldn't tell the car had ever been silver.
