Default Painted air vents?

I love the GT500s black air vents, but I'm not sure how it would look on a GT, since facing on the dash is silver, and on GT500s they are obviously darker in color, which makes the air vents flow in slightly better.

I'm simply looking for air vents painted black, with the silver facing that come on the GTs. I'm thinking of doing this project soon, although I've heard of stories with broken air vents.

Thanks.

I took mine apart and painted the vent black, and used flat clear on the chrome to knock down the glare (top down on the convertible, sun shining from behind, and the glare off the chrome was a little too much).

I like the black vent much better

I also used the flat clear on the instrument cluster, and changed to white faces on the gauges to match my AFR and boost

Thumbs up

That looks great! I really like what you did with the chrome trim. Looks top notch. All you did to the chrome surrounds was a flat clear, no other color to them? They look like they match the dash almost from the pics.

JimC, thanks. That looks pretty sick. You have a nice set up. I'd have the gauges in the vents, and the white faced gauges if I had the cash for it.

Thanks all

And there isn't any color on the chrome. I simply used a flat matte clear and sprayed a couple of light coats. It knocks the shine down and gives it the gray cast at the same time. I bought it at the local hobby store - figuring since it is plastic that the model paint should do the trick

The white face gauges are actually pretty cheap. I bought them from www.whitegauges.net for $20. They are overlays so the needles aren't removed. I had to replace the tach gauge though because I got it off just a little bit (bright sunshine made it tough to see if it was lined up properly).
