Default decal removal

well, the time has finally come.. I finally got sick and tired of the attention, both good and bad from my tribal decals. It just gets annoying.

https://mustangforums.com/forum/2005...-new-look.html

I am stripping the brake calipers, removing the decals/skull stickers and leaving her clean and mean.. spoiler comes off as well as the CDC rear deck center delete panel. I want a very sleek and clean look.

So far, it's only a heat gun and Turtlewaz bug and tar removal, then buff it out with Maguires wax and a car wash.

Anyone have experience with decal/vinyl removal??

ditto.. I might have a set of "ghost flames" when I am done rofl

which I don't mind either, because it'll look pretty cool!

Either way, it'll be way less attention getting than how it is now..

man, I don't get it.. I used to LOVE it when I was 28

Now, it's just too fast too furious for me lulz

rofl only at the track

The funny thing about being supercharged was that I had all this new found power, but outside of the track... I was out of boost nearly 90% of the time lulz

Even with the M90 or Saleen stage 1, I don't think my driving habits will change too much.

You shouldn't have any issues removing them. I did it several times. Grab a corner and start peeling them back. If the decal begins to splinter, use the hair dryer. Piece of cake.

3M emblem remover available at the local parts store.
I have seen it in the O'Realies around here.
I hope the sun fade has not gotten to your paint
and not the paint underneith the strips...
Sometimes the clearcoat will come up as well as the stripes.

I've only had my car for 2 months, and I really haven't been able to fully enjoy it because of the nightmare I've had removing my LeMans stripes. Everything but the hood and front bumper cover came off clean. When I got to them, it's like the adhesive was bonded to the clear coat. I've tried every chemical known to man with no luck. I finally gave in and put a Super Stripe on the hood and now I'm saving up to get the bumper cover repainted or pick up a take-off. I can't imagine your removal will be as frustrating as mine.

Ditto to 157 db's comment...the 3m adhesive remover works great once you get the vinyl off. You just spray it on and rub it off with a microfiber and the adhesive just pills up and rolls off. Good luck...my stripes had been on for three years and they were a #%*#$ to get off...they came off in tiny pieces.
