Photography tips

Just based on the questions you're asking, it sounds like you're already off to a good start.
I know this may sound all artsy fartsy, but the most common problem I notice is an inability to see what's being photographed. They know they've got a great looking car, but just because something looks good in front of you, when you can walk around it, and really take it in, doesn't mean you can just snap a picture and that will make for a good photograph.
Really look at the whole image you're capturing. What's being reflected in the cars paint or the window glass? Is that red Toyota that's parked three spots over being reflected in the fender distracting? How 'bout that blue dumpster in the background? Is that improving the image? Learn to really see what you're looking at.
