Last night, on my way to pick up some Panda Express (Yum) a Shelby GT pulled up next to me at the light and blew his horn. I rolled down my window, and he asked me: "That's an awesome ride...How many Fifthwind editions of the GT were released?"

Needless to say that really made my day.

Wait til summer when I finish the styling mods! then it'll be something!!!!

Sorry... just thought it was a funny story to share. After all, getting noticed is WHY we mod ain't it?

He knew WTF his Shelby was...

he just didn't know WTF mine was....

I've run across the occasional after-market kit or company myself that I have never seen before... so... I don't think he is an idiot for never having seen a "fifthwind" stang and was curious enough to ask.

Fair enough? yeah... I think so...

but, you're right Blacksmoke, makes you wonder how much he knows about these cars. LOL

I love when stuff like that happens. I think mustang owners have a certain comrade that not a lot of other car groups share. I know it makes my day a little better when I run into another Mustang nut.

But I'm a nerd like that lol

Fifthwind, really like your running pony mod in place of the fake gas cap. Thinking of doing the same with a custom painted one from Southern Mustang to match my Redfire GT. Did it cover the original mounting holes and is yours attached with tape?

Blackout panel from DG customs covered the mounting holes, then the running pony was put on with tape to cover the key hole. Thanks, I like it too.

BTW, my buddy gave me some 3M clear type tape that's a kinda rubbery goo stuff. Works VERY well... incredibly strong.

Just wondering if the pony by itself would cover the holes? Don't want to get a blackout panel. I guess I can measure the pony on my GT grill and measure the hole spacing for the cap, but I have the GT grill in storage, replaced with a Bullitt grill.
If you have an extra minute tomorrow could ya take a quick tape measurment of the pony's height about where it would center over the holes.

I'll try to be back in touch with you soon with those measurements. My guess is that it won't quite be enough. But I'll let you know for sure soon.

EDIT: I just remembered that on the 05-09 Gt's the holes are only two and they are horizontal. Therefore, I can tell you that the running pony that comes off the front grille WILL cover those holes. Here is a Pic I found online: http://i532.photobucket.com/albums/e...ingorbadge.jpg

You will not, however, be able to cover both the mounting holes AND the key hole with the pony alone. So You would be keeping your key hole visible. No biggie.

Now, if you are going to do this, let me tell you what I had to do to ensure a solid no-move attachment.

First, there is a LOT of black bonding tape (goop) under that rear badge. Obviously make sure you get it ALL off with an eraser wheel or goo-gone. Then clean the area with alcohol.

Second, you should know that the running pony from the grill is hollow and has several pins in the back (the whole thing is plastic).

1) you will have to snip off all the pins.
2) IMPORTANT: The hollow body of the pony will have to be filled with layers of 3M foam tape until you have a "pillar" of tape in the center of the emblem that is protrudes about an 8th inch past the outside edge. The foam tape will compress when you push the pony into place.
3) You will need to carefully run a layer of 3M tape completely around the entire edge of the pony. Then trim off the extra with a razor. This was the hardest part.

Then carefully line it up over those holes and press it into place. Don't worry, it WILL NOT come off. Stuck for good.

If you do it, post some pics. I think it turned out awesome on mine, and I'd like to see what it looks like on someone else's ride.
