Default started removing stripes, surprise under

I have a new to me 05' GT, white w/ black top stripes and bottom stripes. They are shredded from a high pressure washer I guess, so I started removing them today. I started with the spoiler in case it all went wrong. I used a hair dryer to peel them up and removed the residue with 3M remover. Whats left is a yellowish tint on the paint where the stripes were. It feels smooth, so I don't think there's any residue left. Anybody have an idea how to fix this?

Vinyl doesn't last forever, especially cheap stuff that people buy for stripes. Even the best brands only last about 6-7 years outside. When it's at the end of it's life it dries up and cracks and starts to fall apart.

Try some high quality polish on the yellowish spots and see if that fixes it. If not then the clear coat is damaged from the years of vinyl and you'll probably just need to put some new stripes down over the damaged areas.

Here's a pic. It's tough to photograph, but it shows up much more in person:

I will try waxing and buffing it when it warms up a little.

Looks like the finish is permanently stained from the stripes. I would suspect only 3 things to do. (1) Put on new stripes. (2) Get car repainted. (3) Leave it alone and live with the ghost stripes. That really sucks that is to bad, especially on a car you just bought. If it were me I would just put new stripes back on. It would be the cheapest fix.

If the clearcoat is stained, I don't think it could possible be very deep. Try some rubbing compound, that will basically sand off the top layer of clearcoat. If that doesn't work, then it's too deep and I would say just put fresh stripes back on.
