Default Rust!?!?

Hey all,
So I got a 07 gt with about 47,000 miles on it. I have always seen a little blemish in the paint on the hood right next to the windshield wiper. However, after washing the car the other day I have noticed this blemish is spreading! Its like the paint is bubbling. I talked to a guy and he said it was defiantly rust under the paint. I decided to check the entire hood and to my surprise there are two more spots right under the nose of the hood. What gives? Rust already? Anyone else having this issue?

Thanks,Bob

I believe this is the TSB regarding rust. https://mustangforums.com/mustang-ts...RVICE-TIP.html

Since you're out of warranty, you're likely S.O.L. unless you have enough ballz to convince your Ford stealership's Service "Mangler" to cover it.

They didn't call them "Rustangs" for nothing.

Dang, well at least I know it isn't only happening to me ha. I'm gonna try and be a pain and break some ballz and try and get this fixed. I doubt it will do me any good. Maybe it's just a sign from god telling me I should get a nice new hood

...OR a nice, new 5.0!

BTW, I'm originally from and grew up in Philly and spent 1990-2007 in the York-Lancaster area of SE PA.

After cleaning my car up really good yesterday I'm pretty sure mine had the same issue, but was "repaired". There is a cross hatch pattern all over the front of my hood where someone repainted it. I guess maybe some asshat was leaning on the paint.

Yep, you can try Ford Customer Service, but most likely they won't touch it. I had mine repaired just before my warranty ran out. The only way to get around it is to buy an aftermarket hood because Ford will want $600-$800 to repair it.

This happened on mine too; something about not prepping the aluminum correctly. We called Ford Customer Service and they were nice enough to work with a local dealer to get it repainted for $50. That was about 3 years ago. I was just under the hood and it's coming back. Grrr. Once it gets really bad I'm going to just get a new hood.

I've only noticed it on the front lip of the hood. Haven't seen any issues elsewhere.

Bad prep for sure.
That's what happens when you have amateurs getting jobs at the factory... or listening to the Union too much by taking breaks every 15 minutes, lol.

If the corrosion in the middle of the hood, you could put a SSnake stripe on it without breaking the bank.
After you treat the bad area with etching primer.
You would avoid repainting the hood in that case...
