^This. I think it comes like that with all rental and loaner cars sold by ford. I dunno why, but it was also an option on the cars for consumers... OP: Some heat gun(or sunlight), and then a thin fish line/ floss line will get that stripe right off. I did it with my dealership emblem, and it was the same material/tape stuff.

Then some goo gone, or WD-40 (idk if this is good for your paint) will get that gooey residue right off.

But the ghost stripe is a problem, I think it will go away over time (IMO), but I guess a good buffing/waxing would hide the fade pretty well... Good luck!

They were on my car when I got it and I know mine was a rental. A $95 charge for that lol. After I removed mine there was a mark around where it was that I thought was because someone had painted the doors and left it on, but after I used some wax and grease remover and some elbow grease it came right off. And mine is an 05 and I did this a few months ago, so I wouldn't think it would leave a mark and if it did it wouldn't be too bad.

I think they look hideous on our cars. First thing I did to mine was to remove them and the 94-98 GT emblems someone stuck on my V6.

they do look hideous on our cars...fishing line/warm day is great...as for ghost stripes a clay bar will take them right out...has worked perfectly for me on every ford I've taken them off of, longest time from install (at ford) to me removing = 5 yrs, white ford contour, no ghost stripe after clay bar...
