Default Blacking out the dash

Well while looking for a writeup to take my dash apart to get to certain places i found one where the guy took his apart to pain the silver/chrome trim and black it out.

The sun shining off the chrome blinds/pisses me off to no end during the day, and figured full black interior would look pretty nice, my own little driving cave :P

Was wondering what types of paint I should use on the aluminum trim, vents/trim, door handles, and steering wheel spokes<maybe>. Would want good quality paint so it doesnt peel or anything and look ugly.

Since the interior will be full black of course the car will get hot, but will be tinting the windows eventually so maybe that will help.

ps. heres the pic the guy posted of his interior. He hasnt posted since september or I would ask him these questions.

Non-IUP Mustangs had an all black interior, so one thing to think about would be to swap someone for your pieces for their black pieces. You might could make a little cash that way as well.

haha just did this:

you dont have to use the bumper and trim paint i did it for the durability, but you definitely need to use primer and sand them before. any kind of matte black crylon spray paint will work just fine. removing the dash is extremely easy especially if you arent taking off the passenger airbag panel.

I think the all black looks terrific. I took mine apart and used Scotch bright pad to give the chrome a brushed finish less reflective and none of the cheap chrome look form the dark ages.

Well I'm gonna poke around and see if anyone near me has black panels they would want to swap.
Sounds like a much easier starting point then painting it all.
Also if I can get a few bucks yay me.
Think Craigslist would find me someone quick?

+1, but I think what makes the biggest difference in that picture is the blacked out vent chrome trims and the gauge cluster chrome trim painted flat black.

Where are you located? I would LOVE if someone local wanted to black out his dash because I want a flashy dash. You should definitely find someone and do a swap instead of painting. Just my opinion ya know!
