Default painted stripes?

Hello everyone. I just wanted to get some opinions on stripes. Iam the owner of a 2007 GT, it currently wears dual black vinyl stripes. Im thinking about stripping the vinyl stripes in favor of painted ones...even thinking of going with blue rather than black, anyway what do you think let me know good, bad, indifferent.

The only draw back I could see of getting stripes painted would be price and the fact that you can't change them easily like vinyl.

Other than those reasons paint is the best. Painted stripes aren't going to crack from the sun and you can polish them.

todays vinyl seems too last a long time It seems......I know a buddy of mine that did the vinyl. Painting can be expensive.

Painting can be expensive because it's intended to be permanent. It also looks better.

My '09 GT vinyl stripe has weather marks on it that can't be buffed out, and a small crack in the rear, so I'd rather get a permanent solution than re-striping every few years.

Painted stripes are expensive. Mine are painted and look like a million bucks. My old vinyl stripes lasted 2 years before cracking and accumulating stains. Then it was all down hill from there. Just looked nasty and not in a good way.

Of course, I do live in Florida and my car was in direct sunlight almost every day. Anyone here know the effects of road salt on vinyl? OP, do you garage for the winter?

Painted stripes are indeed expansive but vinyl doesn't age very good here in FL.
They'll shrink, crack and discolor in a sunny environment.
Unless your car is garaged all the time.

Oh yeah, I agree, road salt kills metal, and probably could help ''drying out '' the vinyl. I have no idea 'bout the effects, as I wash every week, if dd in the winter. Course a thorough waxing helps too! I use fukken wax!

This is my first winter with the car, and it is stored indoors for the season. Silver would look good but Im leaning more toward blue...kind of a nod to the past

I like the blue stripes. Over the summer I saw a white one with rear louvers and blue stripes drive past me. Looked fantastic. Would make a cool opportunity for sweet shift **** too!

If you've got the money and your heart's set on the color, then spring for painted. Otherwise just be prepared to redo the vinyl down the road. Might be able to make it last if you take care of it.
