Default GT/CS Engine bay and grill mods

This will be a thread documenting a number of changes I am currently making to my 09' GT/CS.

So I just got my American Muscle black 9-bar billet grille in (horribly painted I might add) and it goes along with my theme pretty well. I couldn't find a lower grille for the GT/CS that went along with the Agent47 brake duct kit. The duct kit has the ducts sitting out about 2.5-3" from the "mesh" pop-ins on the GT/CS front lower fascia. All the grilles designed for the GT/CS lower front are designed to sit even with that mesh and not with the brake duct kit.

I figured since I have been getting some more free time lately I would invest it into the GT. After I started designing it I caught the bug and really put some time into finishing touches. CAD, CAM, cut, pics below. I still need some 1/4" Alu round-bar and I couldn't find anything local so I had to order some, awaiting its arrival.

The two plates on the side are just there to hold the fins in the correct position while I weld on the 1/4" round-bar. I put them at 1/8" stagger going forward while going up, same as the upper grille.

Tacked it up, pretty sure I can figure out some type of mounting system with it like this.

And mock-up on car, it's just wedged in there so it's a little too far out and it's not quite at the right angle.

All I have is my gopro so this pic will have to do for now.

That's it mounted up to the car. I attached it with 4 rivets on either side right behind the A47 scoops. Just like the shelby billet grille but a little different.

This is a good prototype but I think I can get a better fit on a finished product now that I can take measurements from the prototype and convert everything into a one piece design (after a little welding).

How did you cut the bars...ive been considering this for some time but i wasnt sure how to get the angle right...it almost looks like you used a water jet to cut them out...
Very nice work

Indeed I did.

You could probably do it with a dremel if you take your time though.

I could send you some DXF's and show you a free program from which you could print cutouts from (if you have a printer that can use big enough paper that is).

To get the angle I just took some rough measurements using string and a tape measure on the grille I bought. I drew that up in CAD, then made a few variations at slightly different angles. Then I plotted (printed on a plotter) all that out to scale and cut them out then went and test fit each one to see which fit the best.

Now that I've got it on there I can see that the angle changes slightly at the bottom (less angle).

I am still in the process of modifying the prototype though, I am changing a few angles here and there.
