Default Rotor clearing question

Hey guys I was talking with my friend about how my rotors always look crappy. Ive painted my calipers so they look nice. What he said is to wire brush them all clean so they look good. Then spray them with a few coats of high temp clear. The spots where the pads touch will just rub off, but he said the rest will stay on and keep it looking good. So your rotors always look good because it will only flash rust under the pads and one step on the brakes cleans that up?

My question is, has anyone tried this? Any tips/suggestions/things to be careful about?

Thanks
Kevin

i dont think i would paint the pad surface of the rotors. you can clean up rust with wire brushes and good old fassion navel gel. it leaves a bit of a protective coating for a while. ive done the die grinder and paint thing a bunch of times but it doesnt last long. best thing so far for me has been the zink plated rotors. after a year of dd, the centers are still shiny silver, not the highest quality rotor, but ive been real happy with them. i think ive also seen black ones not sure where. if and when they get rusty or just wear out, i`ll get the same thing again. ive got these on both our mustangs

i got em from brakemotive on ebay. i have the gt set on mine and the V6 set on hers, they were both $205 shipped and came with ceramic pads. been running both sets dd for a yr, they have been great. i had one issue with one frt pad when i installed mine, the spring clip popped off and was lost first trip around the block. they mailed me a new set of pads fast. good service. you can also call them....for that price i can put new ones on when they get dirty

The paint would transfer to the pads and ruin them.
Now if you had some OLD pads to take the paint off with first
then installed new pads, it might work.
Use some HI-TEMP clear as the rotors get awfully hot during daily use.

I just installed new all black wheels & black lugnuts & now my rotors which are silver on the hubs look like crap along with my calipers(red) which need a refresh paint job. Hopefully when its all done my wheels will look better as a whole package. I'll be using Dupli-color brush on cal. paint on both rotors & calipers.

Oh yea, I realize that. Its the center of the rotors in silver that just stand out to much. The wheels I had before had polished deep dish lips so the silver centered rotors was not really a factor. I'll post before & after pics once I get the paint & actually get my lazy *** out to do the work.
