Tail Light Trim Swap Advice

Tail Light Trim Swap Advice
I've purchased the black tail light trim pieces from AM to replace the worn chrome ones that came w/the car when I bought it a year & a half ago. I've been told that you can easily remove such pieces w/a heat gun. Just wanted to make sure this was advisable & wouldn't damage the plastic of the tail lights themselves. Also, is this something I'll have to buy/rent/borrow or would a decent hair dryer do the trick?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you take the whole taillight bucket out you can easily heat the glue and peel it off. An exacto knife is also handy.
I also replaced my chrome trim with black but I just took of the chrome ones, painted 'em, and then re-taped them on. Fun little Saturday afternoon project.
