Default Hood Replacement

Hi everyone!
The hood on my '06 GT is blistering and it wasn't until I had it looked at by the body shop I learned it is aluminum. I was told this is a common problem on aluminum body panels and indeed I've seen it happen quite often on aluminum bodied fire equipment. So my body man showed me a number of other spots blisters were starting. They figured up a quote that is pretty substantial and told me there was no guarantee the blisters wouldn't return.

So with all that in mind I'm looking at alternatives. I've made my car to look like a replica of the '66 Hertz GT350 and want to stay with the retro look. Fiberglass first came to mind but I've read they're awfully heavy and I haven't been able to find one in stock form. I've only seen one example of carbon fiber and it has a scoop molded in. I saw a link someone posted in a search here but it also has a molded scoop. I have found a fiberglass example that's not too obnoxious that I'm considering. Most of the threads I've found on this topic are 3 years old. Has anyone done a hood replacement and are you happy with the results? Thanks.

I have the Steeda Cowl Induction hood. It's a great looking hood!

Not to hijack but I'm looking for a hood for my 09 its blistering now but not bad yet. And I've also been wondering about aluminum vs. fiberglass. But does anyone know how the ram air hoods behave on a DD. I'm looking at one of the Cervini ram airs and I'm not going to make it functional but I don't want any issues driving in rain and such either. Any opinions?

Mine is fiberglass. It doesn't feel that much different than stock to me. Might just depend on the hood. Cowboy post pics. I'd like to see what mods you have done.

The cervini dual induction hood is a nice one. I've had it on for years. No issues in the rain either.

Please post a pic of the underside of the hood? Thinking about getting this hood.
