Default Sound System

Hey guys i had a couple questions for those of you that have modified there sound system. I have had the idea of putting new everything in my car; speakers, deck, amp, and sub. One thing that is killing me is the install. Has anyone done all this themselves and how hard would it be for myself? I don't really have any experience with car stereos. Has anyone put different speakers and a sub with the stock deck and how did that work out?

I'm looking at putting in four new speakers. I believe they are all 5 1/2's. An amp to go along with the two 12 inch subs. And like i stated a new deck.

I replaced everything. Alpine IVA-W205 DVD Receiver, Alpine MRP-M500 Amp, Boston Acoustics S85 6"x8" 2-way Speakers front and back, Alpine 400W 4 channel amp, JL Audio 13" in custom box. Was the easiest install I have ever done, lots of room behind the dash for the stereo, all the speakers were easy as well. I left the factory subs in the doors unhooked. Mounted the amps under the back deck and came out real clean.

its not hard as long as you can comprehend basic wiring, im going to do one in my 03 soon, did one in a 67 and in 99 vert, just time consuming for the speakers.

Haha yeah the whole understanding the concept of wiring is why i'm having second thoughts about doing it myself. But from what i've scene you can make it look how you want if you do it yourself. So i take it i'm gonna need another battery for mine?

Did those Boston 6x8's drop right in without having to mod anything?

I recommend not getting 2 subwoofers. Get a bridgeable amp - this means the amp puts all its power into one channel - and connect it to one subwoofer. It will be all the bass you need and then some.

Once upon a time, I had 2 12" subs and a 2-channel rockford fosgate amp. Somebody pointed out that amp was bidgeable, so I bridged it and connected just one sub and it sounded a lot better than the 2 subs did.

No. Lots of people have done nothing more than replace 4 speakers, hooking them up to existing wires and powered by the factor radio. Don't just that will give you a good sound improvement, assuming you bought good speakers like Infinity Kappas or something.
