I was driving along on my way to school when a small rock fell off a big truck and cracked my winshield on my 06 gt! I am in depression! After 4 days of searching for the trucking company, I have decided to just go ahead and replace the front winshield. I was quoted $379.00 installed. Does anyone else know of a place I can get a winshield for cheaper, I am desperate!

That stinks. But I have to say that our windshields are very easily chipped and cracked. I have a very tiny stone chip the size of the tip of a pencil form a tiny pebble.

That sux man. Sorry to hear it. As Musiccity said, the glass in these cars is extremely "soft". I have has 4 different chips repaired in the windshield in a year.

that happened to me before. Luckily in florida insurance companies repair cracked windshields for free and it doesnt go as a claim or anything

How big is the crack...I had a near quarter sized crack fixed and it is barely noticable

hey dude, that really sucks. if it ever happens to you again, you should do what my ex girlfriend's mom did when the same thing happened to her.

1. rock falls off truck

2. rock hits ex gf's mom's window, cracks it

3. gf's mom FOLLOWS truck to it's location - yes she followed it all the way to the construction site (at least she didn't have to leave the city)

4. gf's mom approaches driver of truck, get's all his info/company info.

5. gf's mom calls the company and tells them they are responsible for fixing her windshield.

6. company doesn't want to at first, but eventually agrees to.

7. gf's mom get's new windshield. cost = $0

Thanks for the responses guys! The crack started as a chip but now is about 2 dollar bills long, and I would have followed the truck but I was late for school and stupidly thought that was more important.

FYI...that's not true. It goes on your insurance as a comprehensive claim under $1000. If you have a clean record, it doesn't effect your rates or anything that much. However, if you have a heavy foot *cough* like me, it can make it difficult to get insurance or find low rates. Occasionally some companies don't pick them up, if that's the case, you're lucky. Just thought I'd share.

In light of this conversation, is anyone aware of a company that makes windshields that fit mustangs, but however are stronger and more resiliant? I live in southern california...the land of road construction, and it seems every time im on the freeway some paving truck or something is in front of me or at least leaves debris on the ground....always getting chips on my window. If anyone is aware, let me know, thanks
