how do you redline in 1st then shift in an auto?

I had a Chrysler 300M with the Autostick. You could put it in 1 and when it hit 6000rpm it would shift into 2.
All I know is that I briefly saw the tach sweep over to the big red area and felt the shift!
Thx,
Mike
The Stang will do this? I had a BMW with the Steptronic that did, but thought that was a built in feature. What happens when you redline in all the other gears, will it shift as well?
Very interesting. I just thought the limiter kicked in and you just slow down and manually shift to the next gear. I'm still not sure but will try it my self.

All recent automatic transmissions are electronically controlled. When they hit redline, they will shift.
