I never heard of anybody getting a retune after doing this. I sure didnt need one. And there was a magazine article a year or so ago that told of getting about 6 horse or so, I think it was, by removing it.

No picture handy. Can't really miss it. Take a look at that nice, fat, intake duct. Give it some gentle squeezes along it's lenght. It'll give, except in one 4" +/- section.

Anyone have a pic on exactly where this is at? Thanks!

I think the technical name for it is a Moisture Collection Device, it is supposed to help trap humidity and stop it from getting into the engine, all while constricting the breathing process its trying to do, lol

O.K. you got me. I ran out there and took off the intake hose. Found nothing to remove. My 05 GT does not have anything in between the air filter and butterfly plates. The tube is smooth and open. May be there is a difference in Cali. emissions and mine was sold in Fl.

OK, I found it no problem, however, I can't seem to get it out. Was it really that easy? It is being a pain in the butt.

newbikerider, coming from someone who works at a ford assembly plant, sometimes in the middle of production they have enginering changes. So everyones car might not be identical depending on when it was built

This has been discussed many times...the hydrocarbon trap was removed from the mfg process in approximately april 2005. some 2005's do not have them.
there is no need for a retune.
