I'm not seeing the "pro mustang performance" listed in the sponsors section, am I overlooking something?

Correct me if I'm wrong...but isn't the point to buying a short shifter to shorthen the throw?? I like the way the Hurst looks but I want to shorten the throw....that's the primary reason.

Does that mean the 5.0 and the TriAx are not worth the $$$ as well????
Yes, I have had the hurst, tri-ax, and now have the 5.0 I never said the tri-ax and 5.0 aren't worth the money either. I actually did a huge reveiw on all the shifters giving the pros and cons of each. the hurst is the worst for the money plain and simple. Here is a pic of the 5.0 right before install. You have 0 adjustability with the hurst. What you get is what you get. The tri-ax is built as well as the 5.0 but has limited adjustability and has stiffer shifts. Take a look again at the pic of the hurst in this thread and look at these pics of the 5.0 - huge difference in construction...

If you are only looking to shorten your throw, then the best buy for the money is the $45.00 Saleen upgrade. Here is a copy of my complete shifter reviews...

Saleen -
The adapter saleen offers is definitely a good buy. Although it doesn't actually change anything in your stock shifter set-up, what it does is shorten the throw of your stock shifter set-up. This throw is shortened by about 25-30% and with minor performance mods, it really is a good deal for a few bucks because with the shortened throw, you are able to shift faster and it does release from 2nd to 3rd quicker and more effieciently so it will strongly decrease your chances of missing third gear which happens too often with the stock throw. For the majority of people with limited mods, This upgrade is your best bet for the money IMO. Remember that only the throw is shortened so the actual 'stick & grab' functions remains stock.

Hurst-
By far the shortest throw on the market. A whopping 40% they advertise but it feels more like 80% (those who have them know what I'm talking about) The actual shifter itself is a carbon fiber shaft knockoff of your stock shifter. Very tight shifts in 1st, 5th, and reverse. The construction and grab are no different than your stock shifter which makes this shifter a bad buy for the money IMO as you are only getting a very shortened throw for your money. The mechanics and funtions other than the short throw remain identical to stock. It, like your stock shifter, has absolutely no adjustment capabilities and you are stuck with the stock adjustments you already have.

B&M-
Idenitcal to the hurst only slightly less of a shortened throw - about 30%

Tri-Ax-
Very well constucted and an actual shortened throw of about 25%. Very stiff shifts and limited adjustment capabilitites. The only real way to adjust the stiffness of the shift is to actually lossen the instalation bolts which is a terrible way to adjust anything IMO. Special attention given to the slide between 2nd and 3rd and practically impossible to miss third gear with this shifter. Does lossen up after awhile and 5th and reverse seem to be the only sticking gears.

Pro 5.0-
Almost identical to the tri-ax but a little heavier and thicker billet construction and full adjustment capabilitites right at the stop bolts. Also has 3 setting for shifter hieghts which adjust the feel and throw also. Like the tri-ax, heavy duty construction makes this a must for big HP users and clutch hook-up. Actual shortened throw only about 20% but shifts are smooth as butter with little to no tightness in shifts. Start-up first gear sometimes stiff and 5th and reverse a little stiff after wear. The main con to this shifter is definitely reverse. By far the stiffest gear to get into. Tri-ax much better getting into reverse but the definite smoother shifts throughout the other gears and adjustability and heavier contsruction make this a better buy than the Tri-ax IMO.

Went to the above website and they have a "Coming Soon" Hurst.

The Hurst Billet Comp Plus looks almost identical to the TriAx and Pro 5.0 with regards to beefieness. Looks pretty cool!

Since I'm just looking for the chrome stick, bushing, and ****...I wouldn't need the exact one that comes with the whole shift assemble "391-0201". One of the replacement parts listed on http://www.hurst-shifters.com/Catalo...aspx?BrandID=2 should do the trick as well. Can someone give me the measurements for the stick, or is the #238 0131 on the part list an exact match?

I told you he tracked it down for me. Just send him an email. I've given you guys all the info I can. Get whatever you want. As I put in my original review, 99% of you aren't ever going to do any real racing so I can't see not going with the saleen upgrade. Shorter shifts, smoother 2nd to 3rd - all for $40.00 - best buy IMO.

Well I installed the Hurst shifter today. Couldn't see how anyone was going to be able to attach just the stick/ball to the stock shifter? Thought I ready in earlier post, that this was feasible? See 1st pick of stock and final pick of Hurst installed "sorry about the emergency brakeā€. Had the Saleen kit on the stock shifter, and don't really notice too much of a difference, it might be a tad shorter now. Anyone want to buy the Saleen from me, sent me a pm.

Has anyone tried using the Saleen short throw block on the Hurst or any other short throw shifter? Couldn't imagine how short this it would then make the shift points?
