Rice or not?

So....will the extra weight affect the way my stang drives? I love the way the mustang handles as it is. I know the ride quality will be a little bit worse because of the 20 inch rims...but its nothing serious, right?

The worst handling issue will be when you have to handle tire rotation, unless you have someone do it for you.

RE: Rice or not?
How noticeable will the slower acceleration be? After years and years of having these tires and wheels on....will it hurt my suspension quality. BTW the overall tire diameter is the same as stock. What is the stock rim width? Also will the ride quality be that poor?

I cannot find the place that said the 20 inch Zinik Z9's weigh 35 lbs each. Does anyone know where I can find how much they weight? I have searched everywhere and cannot find the weight of the wheels anywhere....

RE: Rice or not?
I think the wheels look great and as others said, buy them for yourself, not others. If you like them, that is what is important. I'm buying black 20" as well, the Raceline GTs. Regarding the weight and suspension/handling, the weight of things that the engine is turning is refered to as "un-sprung" weight and is a big area for performance improvement. Things like the weight of the drive shaft, wheels and pulleys. It's not going to hurt your car to run with heavier wheels and it's not going to make your car crawl. If you race your car, you will notice a little difference. The suspension is fine too, it isn't going to hurt the suspension.
By the way, did you notice the sizes? Looking at 1 site's application guide showed that the only width they have with the correct back-spacing is 8.5". Are you ok with running 8.5" wheels on the back? It's probably ok if you stick with maybe 255/35/20s but if you wanted to go any wider on the back, you might want to consider a wider wheel. I've read where people have gone as wide as 10.5" on the back with 10" being very common. The Raceline GTs are available with a staggered width of 10" for the rear and 8.5" for the front as a set. Also it is good to pay attention to the back-spacing. The back-spacing for the 2006 is different from the 2005. If you buy wheels for the 2005, I'm told you will need a 1/4" spacer for the 2006. -Joe

RE: Rice or not?
jbailer brought many issues to my attention. First of all, can anyone else confirm that the backspacing is different for the 2006's than the 2005's? What is the stock rim size for the rear? Will this look odd if I have 255/35/20's in the rear? I really like the staggered look...
