Whatsup with my average MPG?

BTW, I just read page 5 of my manual. It does say not to drive at same speeds for the first 1000 miles (speeds vary 100% of the time, so I have no idea what they are talking about).
It doesn't, however, mention anything about a manual transmission. What page are you reading?

2006MustangGTNYC.....be careful breaking in the new engine. In the manual it says you are supposed to vary speeds for the first 1000 miles.

Like the other's here mentioned, I had the same reading on the Mess center MPG as yours (9MPG) for a week, before I realized i needed to reset the MPG to zero, now as I drive on the highway, the readings slowly increases to up to 24.6MPG, I now have 550 miles on the Stang with Automatic, BTW I was born in Queen's NY, I live on Long Island now, and drive to L.I.C. Queens all the time for work, It is more stop.. then go Traffic lol
dont worry right now. i live in brooklyn and i got 9 to 10 in the city for the first 30 or 40 miles. when i finally got it into the highway(for a decent stretch), i got it to as high as 18.6....i dont drive my car much, but i get in the 14's with a mixture of highway and city. you're probably doing all city right?

I live in Chicago, have an auto, stop and go traffice all the time plus mostly just city driving and I avg. around 13.5-14mpg. Of course getting on it and idling a ton do wonders for your MPG. It's a Mustang! You didn't buy it for the gas mileage!
It's not a lemon, that's just what you get for driving a V8 gas sucker in the city!! Gotta love it!!

So I woke up today round 12pm'ish (birthday last night) and I decided to wake my baby up and drive her to the island. I reset it before taking off and once I drove around a bit in the city, it shot up to 9MPG... then on the highway, it shot up to 12 and by the time I got back, it was at 19.3. I suppose if I kept driving, it would have went higher.
I don't drive much, I work from home and don't do highways much either except for city streets (stop and go traffic but mostly stop) so I suppose I will be somwhere around 13-14MPG once everything surfaces to normal.
MAN!!! it's a thrill driving this car. I hafta admit. People point and stair like its a 200K ferrari or lambo.. haha..
