Oh yeah, red or blue rtv would work as well, maybe better than chalk.

Worth a try; interesting how some guys see the problem and some don't. This is the only thing I can see as a factor. The rear mounting hinge bolts should all be snugged down real tight and I didn't see any rubber stops or other adj at the back of the hood. I don't know; test the contact on the stops at the front. They are adj and I don't know how Ford sets these up. Mine are no doubt a little on the snug side. ...meaning hood has plenty of pressure on all 4. ...good luck and careful over a 100...

Did your little chalk trick, the two center ones were not making full contact, one not at all. Adjusted, takes a little more to close the hood but I wind checked it at 120 and no more floating. I love it when its that simple. Thanks dude.

Must be too much play in the assembly process for our cars. Because I've been up to 125 so far in my GT and didn't notice the hood budge much. I'm sure that may change though when I put a fiberglass hood on.[>:]

Sweeeeeeeet,; glad that helped ya. As far as closing the hood goes, as I said I drop my from about 18" up, maybe less. No way can (should) the hood be pushed on (especially with your hands on custom paint, stripes, etc.) I will need to put written instructions on closing my hood in my car when I leave it for service and tell the service mgr. If they push down on my hood and dent it, they can spend $10k and redo my flames.

be careful man.... ...Jim

I personally have had no hood noises at all at any speeds what so ever. I don't know if I just don't realize it but i've hit my fair share of high speeds and none have caused the hood to scare me in anyway. Also it may because it wasn't windy, i'm in Florida so I don't exactly know the driving conditions you guys are experiencing this at.

I just noticed this on my '07 at around 80 (didn't want to go much faster because I didn't want to have the hood flip up on me), I'll have to check the stops tomorrow and take it out to see if it helps.

I haven't gone much faster than 100, and no shaking with the hood.

I've noticed some folks say they don't notice the hood flexing/ shaking at 70 mph. That's probably a bit slow. I don't see it until I get to around 100, and at 115+ it becomes a concern.
Will try the adjustment tomorrow.
Also, does anyone else with the problem have hood struts?
Hope that doesn't change things for the worse. I do have to practically slam down my hood to close it though... But I can open it with one finger!

Adjust the rubber stops, this fixes the hood shake problems.
