Default Need Help -- Check Engine Light is on

For no apparent reason it came on.

I was driving and some kid in a Turboed Nissan Sentra SE-R did a BOV on me and I revved it up.

My CEL came on and has since stayed lit.

I've noticed no problems with the car (other than the usual HORRID throttle lag.)

I think it may be the oil change counter? I know some cars you have to reset the Oil Life of the computer after you change it yourself... Is this the case? (I hope so!)

If not, is there any other way to reset it and see if it reappears?

Thanks!!

I would take the car to an Autozone or similar parts/service place, and borrow their OBD2 scanner, and read the code. You will also be able to clear the code.

That's the thing. I read the code with my Diablosport but... There is no trouble code!

Ok, i didn't think of that... I would check these trivial things first. Check to make sure your gas cap is skrewed on good, check you MAF sensor wire and make sure your Intake is on there good. Can your tuner clear the code? And does the code keep coming back?

I have a feeling I know what it was (no big deal) but before I go into detail, do me a favor and plug in your predator and re-install your tune. After you re-install your tune, the CEL should go off - let me know if it does...

Allright. I reset the car to stock, turned her on, and lost the light.

Reinstalling the Predator now.

There are a ton of things that might have caused it to come on such as a misfire, or other small thing. As long as it doesn't come back on after its cleared, then I wouldn't worry about it. The cars nowadays are ran entirely by the computer, and any faulty signal sent to the computer will make the CEL come on.
