In your words "IMO painted mirrors really complete the look of the new Stangs." I'd add especially on colors like yours. I'll tell you even on my black GT, if I left the mirrors grainy plastic it would look really bad.
Terrific look you have there, to say the least.
...and the mirrors just make it look "so slick". ...great job!!!! ...Jim

RE: color mirrors
Well, I bought a backup set of mirrors of Ebay because I had issues with taking the mirrors off a brand new car and sanding them.
I have been sanding for awhile with 80 grit, but how do you know when it is time to move on to the next higher grit sandpaper?

RE: color mirrors
use the course paper to get the texture off, when your done it will look like its just all scratched up, move to a fined paper to smooth out those sctratches, then finer and finer until you have a very smooth finish with the 320. hope this helps

RE: color mirrors
just as mongrull006 says...
...in a bit more detail....
I used 60 then 80 (dry) which pretty much got all the grainy texture off. 100 (dry) got the rest and began to give a smoother finish. 220 wet, then 320 wet and all done. ...check joints, inside edges in good lighting to make sure all rough grainy surface is gone; touch up these areas with 100, then 220 wet, 320 wet as needed. When all done in 320 wet, should be very smooth with only very fine scratches visible; adhesion promoter, primer, base color, clear to finish.
