Default Finalized Aftermarket Setup

Alright so I am going to post what i am going to get in my car and the price. I am very intersted in your opinions...i have been to 4 places and this is the best in my opinion. Given i have 5K i can spend on the system.

1) Eclipse head unit. Double Din. Touch Screen. 20GB Hard Drive
2) Kicker L7 10", 2 of them, sealed box
3) Kicker Amps to power the subs and the speakers. I believe 1 1000/1 to power the subs and then a 500/2 for the speakers
4) MB Quarts.
5) Custom Enclosure for the subs
6) Install And sound deadening.
7) All the extra little things

This all adds up to ~4,900.00

I listen to ALL music (but a lot of rap) and the guy said i would be happier with 2 10"'s with rock and reggae and all of that. I have enough money to bump it to the 12"'s but i dont want a sloppy bass when i am listening to rock.

What do you guys think about this setup?

This seems to be a really clean set up. The eclipse unit is awesome amd kicker L7s sound amazing! I think ull definitely be satisfied with the system. Btw, the L7s sound awesome with a ported box. one question, are changing speakers too?

I think it sounds like it must be a killer system and would be better off in the Audio/Viasual section of the forum . I think it's interesting to see what people have done with those super systems in cars but could never bring myself to spend that kind of money on a stereo for my car. When I'm in my car the engine is my music. There are times that I'm just cruisin down the road and I listen to music but those times that little skipper 500 is plenty for me. -Joe

looks to be awsome but personally I don't like the look of the flip outs in our cars because of the way the dash is designed. I would honestly say go with something like the AVIC-Z1 from Pioneer pretty much the same features but you gain voice recognition and 10gb of hard drive for music of which you can rip a cd staight to the head unit.

Just my opinio but it will sound great with either.

only thing that I would change is the 500/2, and go with a 4channel amp for the highs. A 4 channel will just give you a little more control and you won't be running the amp wide open all of the time.

Other than that, It will sound great. Which head unit are you getting. The AVN 5495 sound like what you're describing. I sell that unit in my shop and it is a beautifull piece of equipment. You'll love it. I'm waiting on the Pioneer AVIC-Z1 because I want to use the I pod and satellite, and teh AVN will not do Sirius Satellite.

i do like that pioneer you said but it said it was going to retail for 2,200.00 and thats too much for me...i am only spending 1,600.00 on the eclipse.

The eclipse isnt a flip out either though, thats also why i like it.

Why do you say ported? They would sound better even thouhg i listen to all types of music?
