Default Predator vs. Calibrator

I've been reading up on those 2 devices and was wondering.....

- WHAT benefits do they bring to the 'manual transmission' guy

- WHICH one would you buy and why

Thanks for any input you might have !!

I only own the SCTII, but from what I've read the only difference is the SCTII can tune S/C engines, and the diablo can't. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Well, never used the SCTII, but I swear by my predator, and yes the can tune for s/c. I used the 91 and then 93 tunes and now run a custom dyno tune and not problem one.

I have a manual with several bolt on mods. My throttle response is MUCH better, I have a mindblowing powerband compared to stock, have reset the rev limiter to 6800 among other things. Honestly the canned tunes were impessive but the custom Dyno tune from a diablo shop is outstanding. I drove away in a different car. I find it to be very easy to use and the data recording and live time data monitoring are great. You can do live time while you drive and monitor nuerous data streams and have playback ability of up to 30 minutes, or you can download it to your laptop or pc as well.

I have a manual V6 and love my XCal2! I got custom tunes from Doug at Bamachips that have opened up bands of torque across the board. The car really pulls in any gear at any RPM. I also really enjoy the end-user adjustability of the XCal2 -- I can change anything from engine spark temp to idle rpms to speed and rev limiters to wheel size to axle ratio, etc, etc. I'm sure the Predator has most if not all of the same capabilities, but I can at least tell you that I am one very satisfied manual-owning SCT user!

FIRST OF ALL, I OWN BOTH A DIABLO AND A CAL-2!!!

IF YOU ARE A DAILY DRIVER WITH SOME MODS, THEN THE DIABLO PREDATOR IS FOR YOU...

YOU CAN TUNE IT YOURSELF ON THE FLY AND MAKE ANY AND ALL CORRECTIONS BY YOURSELF...

WITH A CAL-2, YOU ARE AT THE MERCY OF YOUR TUNER AND MUST PAY BIG $$$ FOR A CUSTOM TUNE WHICH YOU CAN NOT ALTER TO MEET FURTHER NEEDS...

YOU CHOOSE?????????

D

P.S. I BOUGHT A CUSTOM TUNE FOR MY CAL-2 FROM A VERY REPUTABLE TUNER AND WHEN I WENT TO TUNE MY CAR WITH THIS CUSTOM TUNE, THE CAR WOULD NOT START AT ALL. SO, I RELOADED THE STOCK TUNE BACK IN AND SHE STARTED RIGHT UP!!!

NOW, I HAVE TO MAIL MY TUNER BACK TO THIS TUNER AND WAIT AND WAIT AND WAIT...

GET THE PICTURE?????????????????????

MAYBE!!!

ALL I KNOW IS THAT I WAS RUNNING WITH A DIABLO PREDATOR FOR OVER A YEAR AND THEN MADE THE SWITCH TO A CAL-2 BECAUSE I SUPERCHARGED...

HAD TO BUY A CAL-2 FOR THE INITIAL TUNE...

NOW MY DIABLO IS A GREAT PAPERWEIGHT IN MY OFFICE...

GO FIGURE............................

P.S. MY TUNER SAID THAT HE HAD TO "LOCK" HIS BIG $$$ CUSTOM TUNE SO THAT NO ONE COULD ALTER IT AND BLOW THEIR ENGINE...

IF I COULD CHANGE THINGS, I MOST DEFINITELY WOULD DO THAT... WHAT A PILE OF _ _ _ _
