First Dyno with Kenne Bell

RE: First Dyno with Kenne Bell
The Saleen series IV is certainly more efficient than the KB, but not that much more. Stock sc S281's are making around 380 rwhp running 3.5 psi. I would be curious to know where your total timing is set.

If you are pushing 8 psi, I'm surprised that your #'s weren't higher. What was your a/f ratio under load, and what is your total timing set at?

i think a dyno tune would yeild much higher numbers

RE: First Dyno with Kenne Bell
Anyone but KB changing the tune voids the warranty on the SC. Kenne Bell has a mountain of tech data, which is more than I can say for most of the companies making SC's. They breakdown exactly what 1psi will give you, one degree of timing, .5 A/F and so on. The dyno that I ran the other day was to see what I'm running around town. I got a set of 16" slicks, which are over 20lbs lighter, a Shootout tune for racing and 2 more pulleys at 9 and 10 psi. The first dyno run was my baseline and also least amount of HP that this kit is putting out. Personally, I don't want my car running on the ragged edge for a drive down to Walmart but you have the option to put it there there when you feel the need. KB determined during development that the sweet spot for timing on the 05 is 25 degrees and the AF at 11.5. As far as how effecient the KB SC is, it has a 90 percent volumentric effeciency rating. I don't know what the Saleen VE is (if you can find it, let me know) or any other for that matter because it seems that most companies are reluctant to publish this number but are more than happy to publish high HP numbers for the sake of marketing their product. The fact that KB actually publishes their data shows me that they don't have anything to hide. The Saleen might have a higher VE but until you can show me what it is, don't quote doctored HP numbers unless you got the proof.

Yea, that is kind of what I was thinking. Don't get me wrong, I am no R&D specialists for 4.6L 3V modular motors with forced air induction. In fact, I think it would be safe to say I don't know chit. But I am pretty sure the timing range on the SCT software is 13 to 28 degrees. So not only does that seem high, it is dang near maxing out the range of the software.
But, like I said, I don't know squat.
