California dream hood. Any commets?
I love the california dream hood from RK Sport. I check their website and they have a white stang with aftermarket fenders and they don't line up at all. I don't know if its a bad installation or a poor quality hood and fenders. Does anyone have this hood? Any feed back would be helpful.
Thanks

When they first came out people were having nightmares with them. I have heard that they have since improved the quality and fitment. I like the look of the hood. My only issue is I am addicted to my hood struts and they are not recommended with fiberglass hoods. That...and well, I have no desire to have hood pins.

What is up with the fiberglass anyway? Why can't they make it in a composite? I love the look of that hood but I don't want to do the fiberglass w/hood pins either...I would buy it today if they had it in

So is a supercharger...that hasn't stopped anyone from making those...
But really, if they made one out of composite, I would buy one today.

Well really fiberglass is a composite. Now if your speaking in reference to carbon fiber then I have two statements.
1. The world is literally out of carbon fiber. The military, Boeing and airbus have sucked up everything for the next year with all their projects which leaves companies like mine whom produce CF stuff with no ability to do so.
2. The price wouldn't be out of the world. For a Full CF hood it would be about a $1000.00, that’s what we were charging for our Full CF Cobra R2000 hoods when we had the ability to make CF hoods. NPI of course is turning down all CF request for hoods which sucks big time. I know we've given up like 30 full CF orders since the beginning of the year.
But most companies in the market don't make full CF hoods. Most of them are aluminum frames with some layers of CF over them. Our CF stuff is vacuum bagged or autoclaved for the expensive stuff. But it looks like all fiberglass for the next year.. yaaa...
Issue with fiberglass hoods is depending on temperature and humidity and other factors hoods can warp. A new hood which is made perfect can be properly shaped but then if it isn't allowed to cure long enough and its packaged and say put up against a wall it can possibly warp.
Most people also don't take in account that 99% of all mustangs are not perfect fit bodies themselves and often require alot of finessing for even stock hoods.
For the most part companies like myself and I will even through in a few competitors, we can build hoods to stock dimensions. I know we use Ford CAD drawings but for the most part a hood is a generalized part and every mustang is different.
But I think where it comes down to in the end run that every hood made is 60% labor. In America we just can't pay an American to sit there and watch a hood cure. That’s how you end up with a $800.00 fiberglass hood. But we can pay an asian worker a fraction of that to sit there and have an equally or better hood.

I also like the looks of the hood but can't deal with fiberglass quality issues and hood pins to hold it in place.
